| 1968 - 1975: | Employed by the County of Simcoe as a County Assessor. Responsibilites included the valuation of all types of property at Market Value. In 1970, employed by the Ministry of Revenue, engaged in the valuation of property at Market Value, for the purpose of Taxation and Succession Duties. |
| 1975 - 1979: | George R. Thompson and Associates was formed in 1974 by George R. Thompson, an accredited member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1968, Roderick O. Johnston, also an accredited appraiser of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1968 and formerly Supervisor of Appraisal Services in Ontario for the Farm Credit Corporation and Thomas A. Hutchesson, who joined the practice in 1975. |

A Canadian Residential Appraiser as awarded by the Appraisal Institute of Canada (CRA).
An Accredited member of the Institute of Municipal Assessors of Ontario (MIMA).
A Professional Land Economist as awarded by the Association of Ontario Land Economists (PLE).
