| 1970 - 1975: | Employed by The Ministry of Revenue, engaged in the valuation of property at Market Value, for the purpose of Taxation and Succession Duties. |
| 1975 - 1979: | George R. Thompson and Associates was formed in 1974 by George R. Thompson, an accredited member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1968, Roderick O. Johnston, also an accredited appraiser of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1968 and formerly Supervisor of Appraisal Services in Ontario for the Farm Credit Corporation and Thomas A. Hutchesson, who joined the practice in 1975. |

A Designated Appraiser Commercial (DAC), Industrial and Agricultural, as awarded by the Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers Inc.
A Canadian Residential Appraiser as awarded by the Appraisal Institute of Canada (CRA). Re-certified September, 2008.
An Accredited member of the Institute of Municipal Assessors of Ontario (MIMA). Re-certified February 23, 2001.
A Professional Land Economist as awarded by the Association of Ontario Land Economists (PLE).
A Senior Certified Valuer as awarded by the International Institute of Valuers (SCV). American now retired status.
Graduate of Land Economics and Appraisal Courses as presented by Queen's University.
An experienced qualified expert witness before the Assessment Review Board, the District Court of Ontario, the Land Compensation Board of Canada, the Ontario Municipal Board and the Tax Court of Canada.
